The Australian Functional Federation is proud to announce their second official sanctioned event, The Aussie Throwdown!

On November 29th 2019, The AFFF announced the sanctioning of their second Australian Functional Fitness Event.  This comes shortly after the announcement of the first AFFF sanctioned event, The Chasing Better Throwdown in Western Australia.

The Aussie Throwdown is one of Australia’s favourite functional fitness series, it offers opportunities to athletes of all abilities to compete and offers all podium finishers a share in $10,000 cash prizes.  Categories for The Aussie Throwdown include Scaled, Intermediate, Advanced and Masters 35+.

The Aussie Throwdown series begins with a 6 week Online Qualifier.  Participants expect 1 release every 2 weeks. Participants have 2 weeks to complete and submit scores for the tests online.
Each release consists of 2 tests (combined) per release which cover all 6 iF3 tests.

The Aussie Throwdown Final is a 2 day Event held in the later months of the year.
Crossfit Norwest, NSW was host to the 2019 Final but 2020 will see this event head home to Victoria, this time hosted by CrossFit Richmond.

The Aussie Throwdown offers a prize pool of cash and prizes valuing over $10,000
Event workouts are designed by Bobby Dee from RAW Strength and Conditioning.

The 2019 final event participants included some of Australia and the world’s fittest athletes including Laken Watt, Steve Norman, Jake Law and up and comer Ellie Turner.

Mel Robinson, AFFF President and part owner in The Aussie Throwdown said, “We are thrilled to add events such as the Aussie Throwdown to the list of AFFF Sanctioned Events. Many Australian athletes are quite attached to this event and to have the opportunity to offer them something of a higher scale, to compete for is really exciting for them!”

Top 2 finishers in the advanced divisions will earn a ticket to the 2020 AFFF National Final held in June in NSW. From here, these athletes will compete for a spot on the National team to represent their country at the 2020 iF3 World Championships – August 21st, 22nd, 23rd in Abbotsford, Canada.
